# About Xearch

Xearch is a search engine for public posts on X (formerly Twitter). It started as an entry to the Convex "All Gas" hackathon in September 2026 and is now an open-source project. The interface is modelled on a single central search box: type words, optionally start with `@handle` to search one account, choose a sort, and read the matching posts with their replies, quotes, media and link previews.

## How it works

- **Indexing.** Xearch collects the public history of selected X accounts through x.md, retains the raw responses, and hands them to a separate indexer that normalizes them into a full-text index.
- **Search.** Queries go to that index, a Rust search service built on Tantivy, which ranks matching posts and returns them twenty at a time with a cursor for the next page.
- **Application.** The website, guest sessions, saved searches, bookmarks, import scheduling and email digests run on Convex. Firecrawl reads the page behind a post's link when you ask, and an OpenAI model can turn a natural-language request into an editable keyword query.

Xearch only searches accounts that have been imported into its index. Coverage of an account is a point-in-time copy of its public posts, not a live mirror of X.

## Who builds it

Xearch is built by Adam (pcstyle, https://pcstyle.dev) with Pronsh, who owns the indexer and search service. The code is public at https://github.com/pc-style/xearch. Xearch is an independent project and is not affiliated with X Corp.

## For agents

Agents can search Xearch through its MCP server at https://xearch.pcstyle.tech/mcp or read the [agent docs](https://xearch.pcstyle.tech/docs.md).
